Before we get to exactly what's in Muddling Memories' mayo-nog, keep in mind it's not an egg-free concoction. Eggs are one of the top ingredients in mayonnaise. (They are listed third on the Hellmann's label, according to Food & Wine). The recipe for three servings contains ¼-cup mayonnaise, so it's nearly a tablespoon and a half per serving. The rest of the ingredients? A tantalizing blend of whole milk, heavy cream, simple syrup, nutmeg, vanilla extract, cinnamon, rum, apple brandy, and cognac all tossed in a blender with ice and pureed to a silky, frozen consistency. Mudding Memories says it's also a great make-ahead beverage for the holidays. Just blend everything except the liquor and store it in the freezer. When you're ready to serve, add the alcohol and blend again. Where's the ew factor now, huh?
While Muddling Memories' frozen mayo-nog looks pretty easy to make, it's also a limited-time addition to the menu at Amy Fontaine's in New York City, available for $16 through December 15. The holiday promo includes another Mudding Memories' creation too: Snickerdoodle Mayo Cookies with mayo glaze. Add a cookie to your order and the tally goes to $24. Or comment on Muddling Memories' Instagram post and they'll send you the recipe.
