Christmas may be over, but the winter season is still very much in full swing and this means many homes are still dealing with condensation.
The moisture droplets occur when warm air hits a cold surface and proper ventilation is needed so it can escape. If ignored, this moisture can dampen homes and create mould, which affects thousands of homes across the UK.
While the spores are relatively harmless, it can impact the health of those with breathing problems like asthma. The best way to prevent mould from surfacing is to keep homes as dry as possible.
Rather than drop serious money on a dehumidifier, one mum has shared the household ingredient that absorbs moisture and costs less than a pound.
Nazia Safa discovered that leaving a bowl of salt on the window sill overnight stops moisture seeping through the glass.
The 30-year-old told SWNS: "I think the salt absorbs the moisture. You just put a little bit of salt in a bowl and leave it overnight.
"You can see that the salt has moisture in it the next day. It's very simple. Condensation is a common problem in lots of homes."

The good news is that supermarkets like Asda sell 750g bottles of table salt for as little as 65 pence. The mum-of-three had originally tried using washing up liquid on her windows but found the water from the product ended up on her window sill.
"Being a busy mum you want to try and avoid spending lots of time cleaning," she said. "I try and focus on preventive measures to avoid it."
Nazia also recommends opening the windows daily for a couple of hours, and wiping down the sills everyday can help stop condensation building up. She also opens her washing machine door and drawer after every clean to stop any mould building up.
She added: "Condensation can lead to damp and mould. If you keep consistent and make these things part of your everyday it helps with condensation."
