Undeclared ingredient sparks recall of popular Greek dessert over allergic reaction fears - 7NEWS

A popular Greek dessert item has been recalled over allergic reaction fears due to an undeclared ingredient.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued an alert for Premier Food Brands’ Mediterranean Delicacies Baklava Traditional Assortment 300g on Friday.

The product was sold at selected Metro IGA supermarkets in Victoria and had a best-before date of 23/10/2023.

The popular dessert item has been recalled as it contains peanuts - an ingredient which FSANZ said had not been declared.

“Any consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” the food safety watchdog said.

Those who have an allergy or intolerance to peanuts have been urged not to eat the product.

Consumers should instead return the baklava to the place where they purchased it for a full cash refund.

For further information, consumers can contact Premier Food Brands on 03 9357 0988 or email sales@premierfood.com.au.
