“We expect this partnership to allow us to develop replacements for silicones in beauty products and help us fulfill our mission to help the world Live Better,” Doug Nalley, North America Business Director of Beauty and Home at Lubrizol Life Sciences (LLC), tells the press.
“We’re proud,” he says, “to work with Advonex to further expand our growing portfolio of natural and sustainable ingredients.”
Lubrizol picks up bio-based beauty ingredient tech in Advonex deal
Advonex Industrial Corporation is a privately held chemicals maker based in Brockville, Ontario. The company, founded in 2012, specializes in the sustainable ingredients for not only the cosmetics and personal care industry but also for industrial sectors, including the auto industry.
The company’s ingredient technology is based on a patented oil stabilization process, which, according to the company website involves “removing the oxygen and recombining the molecules.”
By running oils like soybean, canola, coconut, palm, corn, and even algae through the process, Advonex creates various waxes and emollients for use in beauty product formulations.
For Advonex the LLS deal is expected to increase exposure of its alternative ingredients in the beauty marketplace: “Working with LLS Beauty provides Advonex with the market expertise and global distribution that is needed to address the growing demand for alternatives to petroleum-based ingredients in the beauty and personal care market space,” says, Chad Joshi, President and CEO of Advonex, in the recent press release about the deal.
