The competition is open to all AFIA member premix and ingredient facilities.
Gary Huddleston, the AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs, said the organization would be looking for facilities that prioritize excellence in manufacturing operations, emphasizing safety, quality, regulatory compliance and operating efficiencies.
In 2016, the AFIA created four distinct manufacturing categories to be more inclusive of industry facilities.
And, in 2021, the FFY program separated each category into its own individual program: liquid feed, commercial dry, premix and ingredient, and integrator, with each category having its own facility of the year award.
Submissions must include the $100 application fee; they are due by Friday, December 24.
The winning facility will be recognized at the AFIA’s Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Conference, taking place March 8-10, 2022, in San Francisco, California.
Benchmarking program
The FFY award program is recognized as a first-class benchmarking program for the US feed industry. In May this year, AFIA said it was relaunching the scheme after a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trouw Nutrition’s plant in Nesoho, Missouri, was the winner of the premix manufacturing plant category for 2019, while its Highland, Illinois based plant claimed that award in 2018.
