In Indian culture, the practice of having curd and sugar before stepping out of the house or undertaking an important assignment is considered auspicious. Apparently, this combination is considered lucky due to its association with Lord Shiva, who is revered as one of the most important gods in Hinduism. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is said to be fond of Dahi Shakkar and is believed to have consumed it during his meditation. Also, this mixture of Dahi and Shakkar is offered to Lord Shiva on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri as a bhog and then distributed, consuming which is said to bring good luck and blessings from Lord Shiva himself. However, there are people who consume this combination daily after their meals, which may hold some disadvantages. It may not be an ideal combination for health.
